Daring to Discover, Inanna and her Descent into the Underworld.

60 pages full colour, 130gsm paper, perfect bound, laminated

Sometimes along the river of life we come to a point where a choice presents itself.  One way appears attractive, comfortable and safe.  The other is less certain, it offers a very different kind of journey, one which beckons us to an unknown country.  This way demands great courage, for it is indeed perilous and there is no promise of a safe arrival.

Which of your most precious possessions would you take with you?

Which would you least like to loose?

This ancient Sumerian myth has been adapted into an exceptionally beautiful book is filled with outstanding illustrations.  They tell the story of a woman's search for balance and wholeness.  It is a journey poignantly relevant to us today.  Her tale was originally written with a reed pen on clay tablets around 2,500BC and comes from an area of Iraq close to Basra.  The journey Inanna decides to undertake to the underworld calls for enormous courage and perseverance.  Bit by bit her identity is dismantled as she descends into ever-increasing darkness, but at last she returns, with a consciousness both enriched and expanded.

This profound story is about finding equilibrium between the masculine and the feminine. It is child friendly, so will appeal to children as well as adults.

Indeed 'to study a myth is to catch a glimpse of oneself.'

Apart from Inanna the Queen of Heaven, the main characters in the book are:-

The God - Enki

Her Husband - Dumuzi and his Sister - Geshtinanna

Her Faithful Servant - Ninshubar

Her Underworld Queen Sister - Erishkagel

The Underworld Gatekeeper - Neti

They all play key parts in the story.
